Don't ask me where she got that nickname, but these pictures seem to explain it a little bit--maybe because the nickname is silly like her. I can't get enough of this little one. If you haven’t noticed there seem to be countless posts of Lanaea that are all along this same theme: Lanaea being silly and crazy. In this picture she was giving a bowl a stroller ride with a little plastic ducky in had and a headband for a necklace. Silly Lanaea.

Palo Duro Canyon
The next day we went on a hike with all the kids. Once Mylee learned to tell the dog to “stay”, we enjoyed our hike without her crying chorus. Kelsey LOVED it and had to be in front leading the way the whole time. It’s funny because I remember doing that as a child. When we returned back to camp, Blake and his friend Joe went Mtn. biking and me and Mandi when down to a little creek to play in the water with our kids. She has two little girls around Mylee and Lanaea’s age. They had a lot of fun together—it got pretty toasty though. Just when we returned to camp and had finished making sandwiches for lunch the boys showed up—perfect timing!! The Bergman’s were going to stay another night, but it had gotten really toasty and the wind had started to pick up so we helped them pack up their camp and we all left for home together.

Happy 30th Blake!!!
Okay now my time to brag about my wonderful hubby!! I recently came across a journal I had written during a LDS Marriage and Family class I was taking for religion credit at BYU while dating Blake—he was not in the class with me. My professor had us do various exercises to evaluate our relationship with our significant other. During one exercise we were asked to answer questions about our potential spouse. For every question I was able to answer positively. I couldn’t keep from smiling as I read through these entries again, realizing that after 7.5 years of marriage, he has not changed and I can still answer positively to all those questions, but with even more certainty. He is a man of honor and integrity and I thank my Heavenly Father every day for blessing me with such a wonderful man!! I love you honey!!

Kelsey Turns 6
For her 6th birthday Kelsey asked me to make her a Hello Kitty cake. It turned out really cute and was fairly simple to make. We got Kelsey some rollerblades for her birthday, and a play gun (from dad ). Kelsey also got a present for Mylee and Lanaea—a game with the horse from Toy Story. They had a fun time playing the game together. I love you sweet Kelsey and I can’t wait to see you grow through the years. You are a precious daughter of God.

Fun at the Circus
All if Want for Christmas is....
MY TWO FRONT TEETH!

They didn't come out without any drama, but with a little help from Mom last night, the tooth fairy was able to visit Kelsey last night!
Mylee thinks she should be losing her teeth too!

Valentine's Day Parties!!
I was in charge of Kelsey's class valentine party this year. It turned out great! The kids had fun and we had lots of good food to eat. Because of the obesity crisis among children in the US, it's Texas law that they can't eat sweet at school--only a couple times during school year--so made it heart-healthy and served heart-shaped sandwiches, fruit on kabobs, chicken nuggets, and caprisuns! Technically it was only supposed to be a snack--but it turned more into a meal, it was great though and the kids ate it up. Being that we couldn't serve sweets I had asked if a parent wanted to put together some kind of sweet treat the kiddos could take home with them as a party favor. Two mothers contacted me to volunteer for that. But to my surprise, at the party we ended up with those two mothers' sweet treats along with 4 other treat bags to take home!! The kids were mighty spoiled!I had put together a game where where the kids competed with each other to see who could build the tallest conversation heart tower in 30 seconds. This was right up the kids' alley. Then of course the handed out their valentines. Kelsey loved seeing what her classmates had given her. She was even MORE excited to give them what she had put together for them!!
We also went to a valentine's party at playgroup with Mylee. Thankfully I wasn't involved in coordinating or planning this one. We just showed up with valentines to pass out. Mylee had a great time. There were fun crafts to do (Mylee wasn't too interested), great food to eat (Mylee was of course, very interested), and of course great friends to play with!!

Ward Chili Cookoff and Dance

On February 4, our ward had a chili cookoff and dance. The Chili was delicious and the dance was a BLAST!! My heart just melted watching Blake dance with his little girls. It was so precious and a memory I'll cherish forever. Kelsey was having the time of her life, dancing with no reservations (very unlike her mother!). I have to say though, that I did get my groove on a little bit and it was fun. Kelsey could have stayed all night. She enjoyed dancing with a couple of her friends too.

Enjoying the Cold!
We had a crazy streak of cold weather here in Lubbock a couple of weeks ago. It's wierd, a week ago yesterday we were wearing winter coats, with temps down in the single digits, today we are in the 80s!! Go figure!! Last week a water line had frozen and burst at Kelsey's school so delayed school for a couple of hours until they got the problem fixed. When I showed to school to drop her off fire engines were there and firefigthers were walking around the school building. It was all very exciting!
The week before that, it was so cold (-17 to -20F with the wind chill) that they cancelled school for one day and had a two hour delayed start for 3 additional days! It was crazy. It was nice though with Kelsey home for a day and getting to sleep in. On February 3rd it had warmed up enough to play in the snow. The girls played for hours outside and LOVED it!!
